Kids Days Out In Lake District

The Lake District is a national park rather than a county, and most of the best days out here cost nothing beyond the parking. That said, the paid attractions earn their keep on the days when it rains sideways.

We list 11 attractions across the park. The Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole has the adventure playground and the treetop nets, the Lakes Aquarium at Newby Bridge is under cover, and the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis at Hale is the reliable one for younger children.

Parking is the real constraint in summer. Arrive before nine or use the Windermere ferries and the lake cruises to move around instead.
