Only one hours drive from London Wiltshire is a great place  to go for a day out or perhaps a longer weekend. This historic county includes the famous Stonehenge and also the Avebury Stone Circle. There are several National Trust properties but if you prefer walking why not head for the Avon and Kennet Canal or perhaps the Ridgeway. If you enjoy cycling the Ridgeway route between Barbury Castle and Avebury is ideal for all the family.
There are also plenty of activities and things to do for the kids from Farm Attractions to Karting. The Steam Museum in Swindon is a fantastic place to go and is situated in the Designer Outlet Village so you can enjoy some shopping afterwards. In fact although one would not think it Swindon is a great place to take a short break and the Cotswolds is only a half hour drive.
Further West near Chippenham is Bowood House see listing below, with one of the best playgrounds in England.

We always suggest you ring beforehand if visiting with disabled children as all attractions within the place you are visiting may not be accessible, depending on disablement, and whether or not if you have a helper.
Our guide is popular with families and as a school resource for educational trips.
For opening times click through to website or telephone attraction. Some attractions close during the winter.
